New York State Mandatory Employee Disability Benefits

The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce is pleased to offer New York State statutory disability benefits in partnership with Arista Investors Corporation and Guardian Life Insurance Company of America.

Employers in New York State that have one or more workers on payroll are required to provide a minimum level of short-term disability coverage – to all full-time and part-time employees.  (Some employee groups, including 1099 independent contractors, are NOT eligible for state mandated disability benefits.)

Employers may choose a plan with the minimum required benefits or select from several options with enhanced benefits.  Clients who have enrolled in other Guardian plans, such as dental/vision, life, or long-term disability, are eligible for discounted monthly premiums.  In addition, groups who pre-pay premiums on an annual basis are eligible for additional discounted rates.

Click on the pdf links below for employer requirements under New York State law, rate sheets, and a group application to apply for one of the Chamber's short-term disability plans.  The plan benefits outlined below are available to any employer in New York State, i.e., you do not need to be a Brooklyn Chamber member to enroll.
