In November 2001, the architectural planning firm, Davis Brody Bond (DBB), was selected by a committee of Bedford-Stuyvesant residents, business people, and community leaders, to conduct a comprehensive retail Redevelopment study of Fulton Street. As the project manager, DBB is leading the team of experts designing a master plan for the project area. The plan will be the framework for increasing the number of cultural/entertainment venues, attracting new commercial opportunities, and improving the streetscape and traffic flow of Fulton Street in the project area.

DBB instituted a series of intercept studies and Town Hall meetings with local elected officials, business people, and residents in the project area. These series of meetings culminated in a final Town Hall meeting on August 3, 2002, at Bedford-Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation, during which DBB unveiled its recommendations for the new look of a revitalized Fulton Street.
