The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for the 2012 Building Brooklyn Awards™, its signature annual real estate industry event recognizing recently completed new and renovation construction projects with a positive impact on the borough’s economy and quality of life. This year’s award ceremony and cocktail reception is planned for July 12, 2012.
“The Chamber is pleased to present the twelfth annual Building Brooklyn Awards. The awards highlight the best of Brooklyn architecture in a high profile program that truly demonstrates the world-class destination Brooklyn has become. We look forward to receiving this year’s pool of excellent and innovative projects for consideration” said Peter Meyer, Chairman of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce.
Nominations are welcome for built projects and will be judged on specific criteria including; design excellence and innovation, economic impact, sustainability, urban context/design, contribution to neighborhood, and the most important but least definable quality, ‘Brooklyn-ness.’
Projects nominated last year that were not recognized with an award may be re-submitted for consideration. A panel of architects, city planners, economic development experts and business leaders will select award recipients. Nomination forms are due Thursday, March 8th, 2012, and are available at www.buildingbrooklynawards.com.
13 construction projects from across the borough were feted at the 2011 ceremony and reception at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. The event attracted over 400 attendees including real estate, design and construction professionals and government officials. Building Brooklyn Awards also honors individuals who have made significant contributions toward enhancing the business conditions and economic climate of Brooklyn. Last year’s honorees were Jed Walentas, Two Trees Management Co. LLC and Deb Howard, Pratt Area Community Council.
