Taking advantage of the Chamber’s tools leads to new business for Vince Gangi
What does your business do? When and Why did you join the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce?
We are one year-old carpet and upholstery-cleaning franchise based in Marine Park. What makes us different from the 250 other carpet cleaners in Brooklyn is that we are concerned with indoor environmental health concerns. We use a rotary power head versus a standard wand steam cleaner with proprietary safe chemical cleaning solutions. We are the only Chem-Dry franchise in Brooklyn. We work with residential, commercial and institutional clients in the New York area.
The franchise was helpful in recommending business assistance organizations like the Brooklyn Chamber. I attended a Chamber event where I met Joe Stile, the Chamber’s Ambassador and Historian, who convinced me to join.
How has your Brooklyn Chamber membership helped your business?
I joined the Chamber to attract commercial accounts to help grow my business. Upon joining, I received a copy of the Chamber’s Brooklyn Business Directory and Buying Guide. I used it to develop a targeted list of prospects and sent out personalized letters. Immediately we heard back from fellow Chamber Member Holiday Inn JFK. They were already educated about our unique service but were not aware that a location was available in Brooklyn. A meeting and an estimate later, we had a job to service two of the restaurants and a lounge at the hotel! I’ve attended the Business After Hours and find them to be helpful in giving my business exposure and visibility. We look forward to working with the Brooklyn Business Solutions Center to help develop our business plan and for franchising advice, as well as the Brooklyn Connects program for procurement opportunities.
