Evan Meyers builds relationships that lead to business at the Chamber
What does your business do? When and Why did you join the Brooklyn Chamber?
Evan Meyers is an outside sales representative for Sunset Park-based Kamco Supply Corp., a building materials supply company founded in Brooklyn in 1939, that has grown to be one of the largest commercial/ residential distributors in the Northeast: "We are the leading authorized distributor of Armstrong and USG acoustical ceiling tile and grid systems. We serve four metro locations – Brooklyn, Manhattan, Syosset and Paterson, NJ – as well as over twenty affiliate locations from Maine to Virginia. Also, we've been actively involved in worldwide exporting of building materials since 1993.
Several of my customers who have been Members for many years referred me to the Chamber. I joined in December of 2004, to meet some of Brooklyn's best developers, contractors and architects who I knew attended Chamber events.”
How has your Brooklyn Chamber membership assisted your business?
“Having a presence at Chamber events, whether as an attendee or an exhibitor, truly has been valuable. I find the real estate events such as Building Brooklyn Awards™ (BBA) and the "RED Nite" networking events, particularly useful. I have established relationships that, directly and indirectly, have led to added sales. For example, at the 2008 BBA, I met Andrew Giancola of Giancola Contractors, which ultimately led to Kamco becoming their new supplier. Kamco supplied Giancola with green building materials for The Silhouette, Brooklyn's first and only LEED-Platinum certified building, which won a BBA this year.”
