The Chamber is a natural fit for this environmentally conscious business.
What does your business do? When and Why did you join the Chamber?
Biodiversity is an environmental natural health magazine launched in 2003 that is 70% in English and 30% in Spanish. 30,000 copies are distributed bi-monthly in various locations throughout the city. We also produce Biodiversity Expo, our annual trade show that provides a platform for Brooklyn-based and other businesses in the complementary health care industry to promote their products and services to a broad and diverse audience in a first-class exhibit space, as well as through advertising in our magazine and on our Web site. Our next show is scheduled for March 5-6, 2005.
I learned about the Chamber through my father, Alan J. Dubrow, who is a long-time Member through Astoria Federal Savings Bank. I joined in April of 2003, right after starting my business in order to establish our presence in Brooklyn and to partner with other like-minded Chamber Members.
How has the Brooklyn Chamber helped your business?
The day I joined the Chamber, I met with Rick Russo of the Business Solutions Center who recommended the Brooklyn Marriott as a venue for my inaugural Biodiversity event. Through my Chamber relationship, I got three major sponsors plus three exhibitors for my first event. I like the networking opportunities at the seminars and the Business After Hours. I attended the BAH at the Prospect Park YMCA and will now be working with them to host the first of my new lecture series.
