Brooklyn Chamber Launches Internship Program back to Recent News home
July 03, 2008

The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that it has received funding from the New York State Department of Labor to develop and broker year-round student internship opportunities. The New York State Department of Labor Internship Opportunities Program will provide students with valuable work experience through select internships with Brooklyn Chamber Members.

Working with over a dozen high schools and colleges throughout the city, this program aims to place 50 students in internships this year alone. Based on the student’s field of study, the internship will be appropriately matched to their interest and level of expertise.

Since 2006, the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce has placed nearly 80 students in internships with over 30 businesses in such industries as hospitality, retail, manufacturing and design.

Interested businesses and schools wishing to participate should contact Tondalaya London, workforce development coordinator at 718-875-1000 ext. 142, or tlondon@brooklynchamber.com.

For more information about hiring, training, human resources assistance or any other business services, please contact Jeanette Nigro, vice president of workforce and training at 718-875-1000 ext. 114, or jnigro@brooklynchamber.com.
