Numerous nominations were received representing a wide range of project types, budgets and neighborhoods that were reviewed in April by an independent panel of architects, city planners, economic development experts and business leaders on specific criteria, including design excellence and innovation, economic impact, sustainability, urban context/design, contribution to neighborhood and "Brooklyn-ness."
Projects nominated last year that were not selected for an award were eligible to be re-submitted for consideration. All projects must have received a permanent or temporary Certificate of Occupancy on or before December 31, 2009.
