The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce and its Real Estate & Development Committee present Building Brooklyn Awards™, an annual event that recognizes recently completed construction and renovation projects that enrich Brooklyn’s neighborhoods and economy. Building Brooklyn Awards (BBA) also honor individuals who have made significant contributions toward enhancing the business conditions and economic climate of Brooklyn.
2008 Building Brooklyn Awards The 8th Annual Building Brooklyn Awards ceremony and cocktail reception was held Thursday, July 17, at Stage 6 at Steiner Studios. The Chamber was pleased to present this year's honorees:
Private Sector Honoree Mike Baker Store Manager, IKEA Brooklyn
Public Sector Honoree Mary A. Brennan Senior Vice President, The Community Preservation Corporation
2008 Building Brooklyn Awards Winning Projects The 2008 BBA judging committee, made up of architects, planners, government officials, economic development experts and business leaders, selected the 17 winners from this year's pool of nominated projects (click here for winnning projects). Winning projects were culled from a broad range of categories, spanning diverse neighborhoods across the borough. Eligible projects must have received a Certificate of Occupancy prior to December 31, 2007. Projects nominated for the 2007 Building Brooklyn Awards that were not chosen were eligible to be re-submitted for consideration in 2008.
