What does your business do? When and Why did you join the Brooklyn Chamber?
Since 1998 InStep Consulting LLC has designed training and organizational development solutions for leading corporate and nonprofit organizations. We seek to understand our client’s pertinent “people” issues, before recommending solutions that are InStep with their needs and priorities. Based in Carroll Gardens, our firm services clients primarily in the New York metropolitan area; however, we have the capacity to work with companies throughout the United States.
We learned about the Chamber by meeting Members at various events and by reviewing the Web site. We joined in March 2004 after attending a Minority & Women Business Owners (MWBO) committee meeting. We felt that membership in the Chamber would enhance our ability to stay abreast of developments in Brooklyn as well as broader business incentives and opportunities.

How has your Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce membership assisted your business?
Through our Chamber relationship, InStep Consulting’s founding principal Colette Ellis had the opportunity to be a featured presenter at a business breakfast presented by Chamber Member Citibank, N.A. and co-sponsored by the Business Library and the Brooklyn Chamber. More recently, InStep Consulting utilized office space at the Chamber to conduct interviews on behalf of a Brooklyn-based nonprofit client. The Chamber’s Good Help team helped candidates feel welcome and at ease as they waited for appointments with InStep’s staff. In addition to relevant information and guest speakers offered at MWBO committee meetings, the Business After Hours networking events provide a relaxed environment to explore alliances with Chamber Members and develop rapport with InStep’s potential customers.
