What does your business do? When and Why did you join the Brooklyn Chamber?
Lisa Fortunato is the owner/president of robbie dawg, a small pet snacks business based in Red Hook, Brooklyn: "We bake handcrafted organic dog biscuits and have been in business since August 2003. Our company name derives from my Tibetan Spaniel, Robbie, who is a real 'Brooklyn dawg.' Our customers are dog lovers who want healthy, nutritious and flavorful products for their pets. Our biscuits are sold in fancy pet boutiques, pet spas and gourmet groceries in 16 states, including NY, NJ, CT. We also offer our products through robbiedawg.com.
After attending a seminar at the Business Library about the Brooklyn food industry, I connected with the Chamber and became a Member shortly thereafter in 2004."

How has the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce assisted your business?
"The Chamber has supported my business in several ways. Initially I ran my company out of my cramped 100-square foot kitchen. Through the efforts of NYC Business Solutions, Brooklyn Center at the Chamber, where I received assistance in obtaining financing, I now operate out of a 2,700-square foot loft space in Red Hook, which I've completely renovated. The Chamber's Brooklyn Goes Global program has afforded our business excellent trade show opportunities, where our products are well received. I find that through every Chamber seminar or event, I meet another potential customer, resource or business contact."
