Making the Connection Just Got Easier back to Brooklyn's Progress Online

Brooklyn's Progress
October 2002

By V.R. Small Bold, respected, optimistic, open-minded, keen, loving, young and old novels, these are the words that come to mind when I think of a Brooklyn business woman. Women that deserve a place to come together and share their experiences, their challenges, their successes, and their expertise. This is the reason for and the purpose of the newly formed Brooklyn Executive Business Women Association (BEBWA) an organization that will be the Brooklyn network for the National Association of Female Executives (NAFE). Many of you have heard of NAFE and even more have been or are members. NAFE's home offices are right here in Manhattan, and therefore, it is only fitting that Brooklyn should join the ranks of the NAFE network. BEBWA's mission is to establish a connection between Brooklyn executive business women that will support their professional goals and aspirations, in a relaxed and revitalizing environment of sisterhood and networking. We are seeking women in the business arena at the executive level as well as those climbing the corporate ladder. The diversity of experience and expertise will provide a wealth of creativity that will benefit the entire membership. Who is a BEBWA member? Any woman who is committed to helping others, quick to share information, ready and willing to mentor those who can benefit from her knowledge. Our membership dues include the annual membership fees for NAFE as well as an associate membership with the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce. Also BEBWA sponsors will provide the membership with special discounts and services. BEBWA will give your career direction if you participate in one of our employment, procurement or mentoring tracks. More importantly, you will have the opportunity to build a network of supportive women dedicated to helping you succeed. The membership will meet quarterly via events such as breakfast forums, luncheons and dinners addressing key issues facing women today and particularly business women in the borough of Brooklyn. From Sheepshead Bay to Brooklyn Heights, East New York to Sunset Park, all of Brooklyn is invited to take part. Our kick-off reception is scheduled for Thursday, October 24 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Rotunda at Brooklyn's own Borough Hall. Don't miss this exciting event giving you the opportunity to meet some of Brooklyn's most progressive women. BEBWA: Making the connection just got easier. For more information on how you can make the connection, to attend the event or to inquire about sponsorships, contact V.R. Small at 718-919-7035 or e-mail BEBWA@verizon.net.
