The Heights Chiropractic & Rehabilitation Opens in Brooklyn Heights back to Brooklyn's Progress Online

Brooklyn's Progress
October 2002

Innovative office specializes in treatment, rehabilitation and patient education The Heights, a comprehensive chiropractic and rehabilitation practice, celebrated its grand opening in Brooklyn Heights on September 23. Opened in mid-August by Dr. Louis F. Campbell and Dr. Rudy A. Gehrman, The Heights is a multi-tier practice that specializes in family care, auto and work related injuries, sports rehabilitation and preventive maintenance. "Not only do we want to help alleviate neck and back pain, we want to work with patients to help them understand their bodies," said Dr. Gehrman. "Chiropractic care can have a positive and lasting effect on your daily living." Dr. Campbell and Dr. Gehrman, both graduates of New York Chiropractic College, selected Brooklyn Heights based on the growing number of lifestyle and health-related services in the area, and for its diverse, quality community. "We wanted to be in area where we could be active in the community and build relationships in the neighborhood - we didn't want to be lost in Manhattan," said Dr. Campbell. "Brooklyn Heights, and the surrounding area, has been very receptive to us opening here - we already feel at home." On their first visit to the office, patients are asked a round of questions to provide the doctors with insight on how their injury or health concern is affecting activities of daily life. Next, patients receive a full exam and if needed, an X-ray is taken. If severe pain is present, conservative treatment is administered that day. The patient is then scheduled to come back for a report of the findings and suggested treatment plan. According to Dr. Gehrman, "Everyone's injury or health concern is unique. We take the time to study each patient's injury and posture so that we can outline a treatment plan that is tailored specifically to them." As part of treatment, patients will attend educational spine care classes to strengthen and stretch their muscles. The patients will be taught exercises that can be easily integrated into their lifestyle to help maintain good posture and prevent future injury. The Heights Chiropractic and Rehabilitation is located at 163 Remsen St., second floor. Office hours: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 10:00am - 2:00pm, 4:00pm - 8:00pm. Tuesday and Thursday, 10:00am - 2:00pm. Walk-ins welcome. Forms of payment accepted: No-fault, Workman's Comp., Medicare, most major insurance companies and all major credit cards.
