Brooklyn's Progress October 2003
NYS Attorney General Eliot Spitzer was the keynote speaker for the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Membership Meeting. The event, held on Tuesday, September 30, 2003, at The Palm House at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden was sold-out. About 300 Chamber Members, elected officials and guests attended the luncheon. The Attorney General talked about the role of his office in promoting a prosperous business climate in New York State.
Prior to the Attorney General’s presentation, the Kings County American Legion presented the Colors and Jasmine Thomas, a student at The Professional Performing Arts, sang the Star Spangled Banner. Also known as M.S. 408, the school was Founded in 1990. The Professional Performing Arts School seeks to give aspiring actors, dancers, and musicians professional performance skills, as well as a solid grounding in traditional academics.
Brooklyn Chamber Board Member Sister Elizabeth Hill from St. Joseph’s College gave the Invocation. Judith Zuk greeted the crowd on behalf of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz gave the Welcoming Address.
After Attorney General Spitzer’s Keynote Address, Lisa Bing, Nominating Committee Co-Chair and Principal of Bing Consulting, presented the report of the Nominating Committee.
Underwriter sponsors for the luncheon were: Health Plus, KeySpan and Time Warner Cable. The Luncheon Benefactors were: Con Edison, Pfizer and Verizon. HIP Health Plan of New York and St. Joseph’s College were Supporters of the luncheon.
