Brooklyn's Progress October 2004
The 8th Annual Brooklyn Eats, which has become one of New York City’s most anticipated food events, this year will feature its most diverse array of cuisines and neighborhoods in the history of the event. The more than 60 restaurants taking part this year represent cuisines ranging from Caribbean to Italian, and neighborhoods ranging from Fort Greene to Sheepshead Bay.
“The diversity of Brooklyn Eats reflects the diversity of this amazing borough,” said Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce President Kenneth Adams. “The restaurant scene in Brooklyn is getting better and better with so many new restaurants opening up across the borough.”
Brooklyn Eats will take place on Oct. 18 at the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. For a list of participating establishments, click here.
Also at the October 18th event, Chamber officials will present the winners of the third annual Brooklyn Eats Scholarships. Scholarships are awarded to three hospitality management students studying at the New York City College of Technology in Downtown Brooklyn. Scholarship winners Shakia Hall, Latoya Mason and Ronney Williams will unveil a new recipe they are developing especially for the event, City Tech's Chocolate Cherry Cake.
This year’s event will attract more than 800 guests. Brooklyn Eats serves as the premier annual marketing opportunity for restaurants in Brooklyn’s rapidly growing, increasingly high-profile restaurant scene. Major funding for Brooklyn Eats was provided by City Council Speaker Gifford Miller and the Brooklyn delegation of the New York City Council
