Brooklyn's Progress November 2003
The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce held its third New Member Orientation (NMO) of this year on Oct. 23, 2003, at the Business Library at Cadman Plaza.
This quarterly event is the best one-stop experience for getting an overview of the Brooklyn Chamber and for learning how to maximize a membership. Not only did new Brooklyn Chamber Members have an opportunity to meet other business owners, they made new contacts and networked with veteran Members, while enjoying a continental breakfast, courtesy of Café Petite Crevette and Café Scaramouche in space provided by the Brooklyn Business Library.
The group received a warm greeting from Brooklyn Chamber President Kenneth Adams and each participant gave a brief introduction about their company. Chamber Vice President for Sales & Marketing, Cheryl Mann, presented an overview of the Brooklyn Chamber and its services.
Membership Committee co-chair Loretta Mathushek from HSBC Bank, gave an update on the Committee’s activites. She co-chairs the Committee with Daniel Vaccaro from Business Boomerang Inc. Loretta invited the participants to join her for a breakfast seminar about money matters presented by HSBC on November 13, 2003, at the bank’s branch on Third Avenue.
New Brooklyn Chamber Member, Jimmy Ip, Sparkle Promotion Inc., talked about the networking opportunities that he has experienced since joining the Chamber in May. His company, launched in January 2003, in North America, specializes in custom designed productions.
Immediately following the overview, iBrooklyn Director, Henok Assefa, led an EZWeb training session where Members received hands-on assistance in creating their free web page that is linked to the Brooklyn Chamber’s website, http://www.ibrooklyn.com/.
During the training session, Membership Marketing Coordinator Khadija Batuta, reviewed some of the many features of iBrooklyn such as Brooklyn Chamber’s events, Brooklyn Eats, the online guide to Brooklyn restaurants, and Brooklyn Ease, the online guide to Brooklyn shopping. |
