Brooklyn's Progress January 2005
The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for the 2005 Building Brooklyn Awards, an annual event that recognizes recently completed construction projects that have had a positive impact on the borough’s economy and quality of life.
“Building Brooklyn Awards enable the Brooklyn Chamber to shine a spotlight on a diverse and exciting selection of projects that represent the incredible amount of new investment in our borough,” said Kenneth Adams, President of the Brooklyn Chamber.
This year the Brooklyn Chamber is accepting nominations in 14 categories: education, public works, community facility, arts and culture, religious facility, industrial, office building, office interior, retail building, retail storefront, residential-single family, residential-medium density, residential-multi-family, and residential-affordable housing. Eligible projects should have received a Certificate of Occupancy prior to December 31, 2004. Projects that were nominated last year and did not win an award may be re-submitted for consideration.

For more information please contact Mack Tham, Director of Real Estate & Development for the Brooklyn Chamber, at 718-875-1000 ext.142, or at mtham@brooklynchamber.com.
A panel of architects, city planners, economic development experts and business leaders will choose award recipients. The Building Brooklyn Awards ceremony and cocktail reception will be held in June 2005 at a location to be determined.
In 2004, nine construction projects from around the borough were recognized during a ceremony held at the Brooklyn Museum that attracted more than 340 attendees including real estate and design and construction professionals and government officials. Building Brooklyn Awards also honors individuals who have made significant contributions toward enhancing the business conditions and economic climate of Brooklyn. Last year’s honorees were Amanda Burden, Chair of the NYC Planning Commission and Thomas Renyi, Chairman and CEO of The Bank of New York. |
