Brooklyn's Progress December 2000
The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce has a new homepage – www.iBrooklyn.com. Open your internet browser and type in www.BrooklynChamber.com and you end up at www.iBrooklyn.com! There is no longer any doubt about it, all roads in Brooklyn cyberspace lead to iBrooklyn.com. The new site has all the Chamber information that used to appear on the old site … and more: · Want to find the latest feature or information that’s been posted? Click on “What’s New” · New to the site and want some helpful hints for exploring the content: Click on “Guide” · The Brooklyn Data Warehouse is complete and open for business. Check it out! Whether you are a business person or resident; new to the borough or a third generation Brooklynite – you will find tons of information that you don’t know, can’t or shouldn’t have to remember. Visitors have already reported using the Data Warehouse to quickly find the phone number of the nearest police precinct in an emergency that didn’t warrant 911, to organize local campaigning efforts prior to the recent elections, and as a valuable resource to neighborhood advocacy groups. · The Minority & Women Owned Business Connection, sponsored by Citibank, is connected. This collection of resources, assembled specifically for Minority and Women Owned Businesses, is the result of a collaboration between Citibank, Chamber staff and the members of the Minority & Women Owned Business Committee. Most of the resources have been identified by volunteer Committee Members because they were especially helpful to small business, in general, and Minority and Women Owned businesses, in specific. Many thanks for the R&D work done by Jas Dillard; the wonderful web-design planned and executed by Sara K. Schwittek (FOUR EYES PRODUCTIONS), the monthly “coaching” column provided by Lisa Bing (Bing Consulting), the special column submitted by Selma Jackson (4W Circle of Art & Enterprise), and the resource recommendations and articles provided by so many others. Bookmark this page and check it out on a regular basis. · If your business or organization is planning an event, be sure to list it on the new Community Events Calendar in the Community Kiosk @ iBrooklyn.com. Just follow the instructions on the screen to submit an event for posting. Please submit your event at least two weeks before it is scheduled – the earlier the better. It may take a couple of days for us to process your request, and you will want to give viewers plenty of notice to get your event on their calendars. More features are under development.
