Brooklyn's Progress February 2001 Electronic Media Organization Joins Other New Tenants in Renovated Loft Spaces Eyebeam Atelier has become the newest tenant at 100 Water Street, a renovated loft building in DUMBO: the Brooklyn waterfront site Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass. A not-for-profit organization that serves artists and audiences interested in new media art, Eyebeam Atelier is leasing 13,000 square feet on the building’s 12th floor, which will house its administrative offices, multi-media classroom, and production studios for its new Moving Image Division and Artist-in-Residence program. Two Trees owns 14 buildings in DUMBO, in which it has rented more than 225,000 square feet of pre-wired space to high-tech firms such as Eyebeam Atelier. Among the other new tenants at 100 Water Street are Four Eyes Productions, a firm specializing in Web and multimedia design and development (3,300 square feet); and Electronic Recruiting Exchange, an Internet bulletin board and newsletter for job recruiters (2,600 square feet). Other new tenants in the building include Howard Schickler Fine Arts, a gallery specializing in astronomic photography and Russian photojournalism. “The mix of arts, education, and high-tech enterprise at 100 Water Street is exactly what DUMBO is all about,” said David Walentas, president. “For the most vital and innovative forces in today’s economy, this neighborhood’s combination of lower rents, technologically prepared space, open floor plans, great transportation, and an exciting live-work environment make DUMBO the place to be.” |
