Brooklyn's Progress February 2004
Story and photos by Khadija Batuta
The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce kicked off 2004 with the New Year's first Business After Hours (BAH) – the organization's signature monthly networking event. On Jan. 22, more than 70 Chamber Members and friends headed over to DUMBO and to Studio EIS, Brooklyn's only 3D studio that designs and builds exhibits for history and technology museums.
BAH attendees toured Studio EIS' fascinating facility with its life-size sculptures and busts of historic and contemporary public figures (apparently Bob Newhart was the hit of the evening). Of course, they also networked and enjoyed scrumptious mini-quiches and other lite fare and beverages – as well as the most deliciously decadent chocolate chip cookies – provided by the event's sponsor, Tuller Premium Food.
The Brooklyn Chamber's monthly networking events are a terrific way to meet other business owners and entrepreneurs as well as to discover and explore exciting locations and venues in NYC's best borough – Brooklyn.
Studio EIS+KYSO, a new creative partnership, is based in a 15,000-square foot studio, right under the Brooklyn Bridge, with clients in the U.S., Australia and South East Asia. EIS also designs and builds site-specific sculptures for architecture, interior spaces and environments. EIS did an exhibit for both the Truman and Nixon presidential libraries, and created an exhibit for the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis. EIS has also done some work for Sony in New York City.
Many thanks to Studio EIS for making the Brooklyn Chamber's January BAH one of the most interesting and fun, and thanks also to Tuller Premium Foods, the evening's sponsor and Brooklyn's epicurean destination offering a full range of the finest fresh, seasonal and specialty foods prepared right in their state-of-the art kitchen. Thanks also go out to Bob Stimell of U.S. Coffee, for donating four door prizes.
