Brooklyn's Progress March 2002
iBrooklyn, The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce's Internet business portal for Brooklyn and Good Help, The Chamber’s business-driven employment service, are the illustrious recipients of the American Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) 18th annual, coveted 2001 Awards for Communications Excellence (ACE)--Spotlighting the "Best of the Best." The Award for Excellence surpasses the fundamental standards and criteria for communications excellence. The Awards for Communications Excellence (ACE) is an annual competition that recognizes excellence in all areas of communications. ACE continues to be the vehicle for the chamber community to promote effective chamber communications as well as highlight initiatives, introduce events and inform members. The awards program is a unique opportunity for chamber executives and chamber professionals to gauge how they are doing in comparison to their peers throughout the country. The ACE awards also helps chambers gain recognition throughout their communities. "We are truly honored and excited to receive this award as it is one of the few times we are able to compete against other Chambers of Commerce in the country with similar goals and resources" said Henok Assefa who directs iBrooklyn. "iBrooklyn is designed exclusively by Chamber Members Nunet Solutions, Community Cartography, Brooklynx.com, Four Eyes Productions, and Accelerator Designs. This award serves as a testament to the quality of their work." "Good Help is very pleased to have been given this prestigious award by our peers." said Mike Rosenthal, Director of Good Help on his part. "All Chamber members are urged to take advantage of our free employment service." This year's ACE competition drew 286 entries from 200 chambers throughout the country. Qualified judges spent over 200 hours of judging and provided comprehensive feedback for each participant. Judges backgrounds included experience in the fields of public relations, printing and design, special events planning, fundraising, journalism, economic development, web design and public policy. The awards are a celebration for the new millennium- with a new format and open to everyone," said an enthusiastic Michele Noe, Chairman of the ACE Awards Committee and Director of Marketing and Communications for the Greater Cincinnati (OH) Area Chamber of Commerce. "ACCE is proud to honor, reward and celebrate the achievements of outstanding communications programs, campaign and projects in the chamber industry," added Tammy Green, ACCE's Director of Member Services. Winners will have the opportunity to receive their award in person at the 2002 Management Symposium, "Managing For Creativity and Innovation" in Orlando, Florida on March 8 during the Annual Awards Banquet at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort.
