In last months issue of Brooklyn Progress we shared the exciting news that Brooklyn Goes Global (BGG) was back in action!  The New Year is off to a tremendous start with the participation in a world wide buyers mission for Brooklyn businesses with the Food Export USA Northeast, which took place at the Doubletree Hotel on January 15th in New York’s Time Square.  The Food Export USA Northeast was a unique opportunity which provided one-on-one pre-arranged meetings with buyers from all over the globe.

During the Export, BGG companies had the opportunity to meet buyers from worldwide territories including such countries as Ireland, Canada, Belgium, Korea, Poland, Spain and the Caribbean to name a few.  Chamber Members included Hena Inc, an estate grown specialty coffee company, Tower Isles Frozen Foods, Inc., specializing in assorted beef patties and frozen foods and Erica’s Rugelach & Baking Co., who immediately benefited in this cost effective and exciting event.  Dan Kopf of Hena Inc., who was on hand to discuss the new Hena line of flavored syrups and other gourmet coffee product lines, expressed how pleased he was to join in this effective program.

According to Mr. Kopf, “I was delighted at the economical way the event afforded us the opportunity to sit face-to-face with decision makers for productive discussions, as well as the opportunity to demonstrate first hand to many foreign reps. We were extremely pleased with the results.”Irma Solomone of Tower Isles Frozen Foods, Inc. thanked the Brooklyn Chamber and Brooklyn Goes Global for alerting her to this mission.  Ms. Solomon and Alexis Bronstorph also spent time with the staff of Food Export USA Northeast discussing exporting and other synergizing ideas.  The Food Export USA Northeast, is integral part of the United States Department of Commerce and will be one of our guest speakers during a upcoming Food Manufacturers Only (FMO) business seminar series later this year.

BGG staff assisted Brooklyn companies from inception and set up through completion during the event to make the experience easy, productive and worry-free.  “I am pleased I was here,” said Erica Kalick, President of Erica’s Rugelach & Bakery Co, “It was an extremely rewarding experience.”
