Mayor Bloomberg Unveils New Digital Newsletter back to Brooklyn's Progress Online

Brooklyn's Progress
March 2003

Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg recently unveiled a new monthly, digital newsletter to inform the public about important news and events going on in New York City government.

The digital newsletter was sent to approximately 20,000 people who have signed up to receive it.  Anyone can signup to receive the digital newsletter by emailing newsletter@cityhall.nyc.gov.  The newsletter will also be posted on the City’s Web site, http://www.nyc.gov/

“Our new digital newsletter is a great way to communicate with New Yorkers.  Since the digital newsletter will be emailed out, there is no distribution cost to the City.  This is another example of my administration’s commitment to using technology to make government more efficient, effective and accessible,” said Mayor Bloomberg.

The inaugural digital newsletter includes stories about the Mayor’s campaign accountability report, the City’s new education plan, information on how to become a volunteer, how to contact the 24-hour Heat and Hot Water hotline, how to report a pothole, and how to take advantage of City on-line services ranging from reserving ballfields to obtaining birth certificates, requesting a street tree, reviewing restaurant inspection information, getting a flu shot, learning about benefits for seniors, viewing sporting event schedules, receiving help with your cable provider, or viewing traffic alert updates online.

Every month, the digital newsletter will feature helpful on-line City services available to New Yorkers.  Since it will be sent electronically, it can be delivered to New Yorkers at no cost.
