Brooklyn's Progress March 2004
By Khadija Batuta
The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce re-launched its popular virtual Brooklyn guide for "foodies" on Feb. 2. With over 1,000 restaurants across the borough, brooklyneats.com serves as the Chamber's gateway to this most important and growing industry in Brooklyn.
The new website design includes user-friendly features such as an online submission form for restaurants to include their information in the searchable database, as well as a section about the Annual Brooklyn Eats Tasting Event scheduled this year for Oct. 18. It also includes expanded restaurant listings totalling more than 750, making it the most comprehensive free restaurant guide in the borough.
Originally launched in 2000 at the 4th Annual Brooklyn Eats Tasting Event as "Brooklyn Eats Online," the guide was available only on ibrooklyn.com, the Chamber's website. The re-designed website is now accessible through both ibrooklyn.com and through its own unique domain name brooklyneats.com, generously donated by Chamber Member Fratelli Ravioli.
This project was managed by Henok Assefa, former director of iBrooklyn, who left the Chamber at the end of last year to return to his native Ethiopia. The new site design is by Chamber Members 3rd Edge Communications and Pure Source World Media.
