Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. (Con Edison) announced that Thomas Newell, vice president of gas operations, has been appointed vice president of the company’s Brooklyn-Queens division effective Feb. 1. In this capacity, Mr. Newell will oversee the operation of the electric distribution system in Brooklyn and Queens.
Mr. Newell joined Con Edison in 1980 as an operating supervisor for Queens gas operations. Previously, he held the positions of field engineer for Queens gas operations, design engineer for central gas operations, section manager for major projects for gas operations, department manager for steam operations, and general manager for Manhattan gas operations.
Mr. Newell is a member of the American Gas Association, the Society of Gas Operators, the Municipal Art Society and the Manhattan Institute. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Manhattan College and a master’s degree in Finance from St. John’s University. Mr. Newell lives on Manhattan’s Upper East Side with his wife Lisa.
