iBrooklyn Intern receives AAF Award back to Brooklyn's Progress Online

Brooklyn's Progress
April 2002

Damien Witter, iBrooklyn Intern, and a senior marketing major at Long Island University, was awarded the American Advertising Federation’s (AAF) Most Promising Minority Student Honor Roll Award. This very prestigious award acknowledges a selected group of minority students from over 100 AAF affiliate colleges and universities. The annual competition recognizes outstanding seniors in the field of marketing and advertising from colleges and universities across the country and gives winners the opportunity to participate in roundtable discussions, seminars, and a career fair. This two-day event program was held at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City in February. Witter was also featured in the AAF’s resume book and in special issue of Advertising Age. He is also a recipient of last year’s New York Ad Club’s Foundation Grant. Witter attended Long Island University on a Martin Luther King Scholarship, a highly selective award. He is in the top percent of his class and is graduating with National Honors including, LIU Sigma Beta Delta and Alpha Chi. He is an outstanding student and diligent worker. As iBrooklyn Intern, Witter has gained valuable experience in maintaining and developing content for the Chamber’s web portal. His future plans include pursuing an M.B.A. in business management and starting his own record label. “I have no doubt he will achieve whatever he sets out to accomplish,” says Henok Assefa, Director of iBrooklyn. “His greatest asset is his determination to succeed.” High hopes for a high achiever. The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce congratulates Damien Witter for all his wonderful achievements and wishes him luck on all his future endeavors.
