Brooklyn's Progress April 2002
RELAY FOR LIFE: It's about Communities taking up the fight against cancer Want to get some exercise, hang out with your friends, meet new people, and save lives all at the same time? Then sign up for the American Cancer Society Brooklyn Region’s Relay for Life event. Throughout the summer months, thousands of communities across the nation unite to fight cancer at the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life events. An overnight celebration of hope, progress, and answers, Relay For Life is the national signature activity of the American Cancer Society and the largest fund-raising activity in the world. Groups of employees, friends, and neighbors form teams and walk or run along a track, raising funds, awareness and spirits of those present. Since it’s inception in 1985, Relay For Life has grown into 3,300 events that raised $209 million last year alone. Relay teams pitch tents and decorate their campsites. Team members bring sleeping bags, food, games-everything they need to get through the 24-hour event. Honoring those Americans who have survived cancer and remembering the millions who have not, Relay brings communities together to make a difference. With millions of dedicated volunteers nationwide, the American Cancer Society has made great progress in the fight against cancer- progress directly impacted by Relay For Life fundraising activities. The American Cancer Society Brooklyn Region hopes that we can count on your support at our two events: Relay For Life Relay For Life June 8-9, 2002 June 22, 2002 Poly Prep Country Day School Wingate Park at George W.
