Brooklyn Chamber Member Laura Goodwin, CEO and President of The Training Academy, was listed in the Crain’s New York Business Special Report 40 Under 40.

Ms. Goodwin was the only Brooklynite included in the exclusive list of New York’s Rising Stars which appeared in the Jan. 27-Feb. 2 issue of the paper.  Ms. Goodwin opened The Training Academy in the Fort Greene/Clinton neighborhoods on Waverly Avenue between Atlantic and Fulton in April of 2000.  According to Ms. Goodwin, The Training Academy is a fitness center dedicated to establishing fitness as a way of life.

A fitness expert and area resident, Ms. Goodwin has made health and fitness for all a primary goal in her life, after at age 15, witnessing the tragic passing of her mother at 48 from heart disease.

More than a gym, The Training Academy offers a variety of classes including yoga and aerobics, weight training equipment, a massage room, a boxing ring and more.
