Brooklyn's Progress April/May 2005
Con Edison is encouraging businesses in selected neighborhoods of Eastern Brooklyn to use less electricity during peak periods of demand. These neighborhoods are located within three of the electrical distribution networks in Brooklyn – Crown Heights, Richmond Hill and Ridgewood. An experienced contractor in energy efficiency, working under this Con Edison program, may contact you to offer the installation of energy efficient measures. The contractor will have a letter from Con Edison identifying him as a legitimate contractor in the program. If you are interested in the contractor’s services, you can negotiate arrangements directly with the contractor himself. And to sweeten the pot, substantial rebates and other services may be offered by the contractor for the installation of energy-efficient lighting and energy-efficient HVAC equipment.
Businesses located within any of the following districts, might be available to upgrade to a more efficient system:
The Crown Heights Network: bordered on the South by Clarendon Rd., to the North by Fulton St., on the West by New York Ave. and to the East by Alabama Ave.
The Richmond Hill Network: bordered on the South by Louisiana Ave./Jamaica Bay, to the North by Jackie Robinson Parkway/Queens Blv., on the West by Alabama Ave. and to the East by the Van Wyck Expressway.
The Ridgewood Network: bordered on the South by Fulton St., to the North by the Brooklyn/Queens border, on the West by Graham Ave./Throop Ave. and to the East by Wyckoff Ave. and the Queens Borough Line.
Any size business, within the boundaries cited, is eligible.
