Brooklyn's Progress April/May 2005
HSBC Bank USA, NA’s commitment to small business is evident by their recent work with the NYC Business Solutions Center at the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce and their commitment to becoming Brooklyn Chamber Champions.
“Small business is an important economic engine for New York State and its success has tremendous spin-off benefits,” said Kevin O’Leary, HSBC Bank Vice President & Small Business Relationship Manager. “We are proud to help these customers access funding and to help the Brooklyn Chamber carry out its work in fostering economic development.” Over the past few years, HSBC has become an important resource for small businesses and a leading source of SBA loans in several states. The bank ranked number one in New York State in both the number of Small Business Administration loans made and in dollar volume of loans for fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2004.
Recently HSBC Bank worked with the NYC Business Solutions Center at the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce – one of the Bloomberg Administration’s major initiatives for small businesses – to help a small business client secure a loan.
HSBC Bank has been involved with the Brooklyn Chamber for several years. Loretta Mathushek, HSBC Bank Team Leader, Vice President & Business Relationship Manager, now semi-retired, was most recently the co-chair of the Chamber’s Membership Committee. She was instrumental in building relationships and networking for the benefit of businesses both large and small.
“Loretta developed a wonderful working relationship with the Brooklyn Chamber and HSBC is building upon that relationship,” Mr. O’Leary added.
Mr. O’Leary, who also serves on the Brooklyn Chamber Board of Directors and its Real Estate and Development Committee, has held various positions in the banking industry including the areas of business development, credit underwriting, audit, and risk management.
