Brooklyn's Progress April/May 2008
BY JILL D’AMICO
On Feb. 25, Brooklyn Goes Global, the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce’s marketing program for manufacturers looking to expand outside the country, held a seminar at the Brooklyn Business Library. Having facilitated trade missions from Mexico and Tanzania in 2007, the program hopes to expand its reach this year, kicking off with a seminar.
BGG brought the District Export Council, US Commercial Services and BOC Network together to present a District Export Council Seminar.
The seminar offered participants the opportunity to meet with professionals from the New York District Export Council for one-to-one sessions on techniques and strategies for exporting in such areas as freight forwarding, trade finance/international banking, and export marketing. There was even region-specific information about working with Europe, Latin America and China.
The seminar fit in with BGG’s tri-level strategy that helps to identify, evaluate and connect Brooklyn manufacturers and export/import companies with domestic and international buyers through promotion and marketing, education and training, and technical assistance.
