Brooklyn's Progress May 2001
By Monica Rump Brooklyn Goes Global recently launched a new program for Brooklyn manufacturers of gift and personal care products that are looking to expand their business in the US and worldwide. Brooklyn Originals specifically targets the sales, marketing and research needs for the growing number of Brooklyn gift and personal care products manufacturers. The group currently consists of 15 Brooklyn companies with a growing number of firms that would like to participate in the program’s activities. Products that are represented range from lamps, clocks, wastepaper baskets and soaps to all natural skin care products. Several projects are in the works to promote Brooklyn Original’s clients: Brooklyn Originals is planning to attend the San Francisco International Gift Show August 4 to 8 this year. This show is an excellent forum to showcase the latest of innovative Brooklyn made gift items and draws thousands of serious gift buyers from across the country and around the world. The program will also work with a sales consultant that will assist to generate domestic and international sales for the program’s clients. “Our bottom line is sales that help our clients to grow their businesses. A sales consultant that is specialized in the gift and personal care products industries and with a rolodex of buyer contacts will help us to achieve our sales benchmarks,” said Joern Lohmann, who runs the new program. In addition, Brooklyn Originals in cooperation with iBrooklyn is in the process of developing a virtual catalog and is planning a promotion campaign to industry specific press contacts.
