Brooklyn Chamber Launches Innovative New Membership Packages back to Brooklyn's Progress Online

Brooklyn's Progress
May 2004

By Khadija Batuta

As part of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce’s aggressive marketing initiative to significantly grow its membership in 2004, it  is pleased to introduce two  new innovative membership packages to its long-standing $300 level package.

“Together these three standard membership levels:  Marketing – $195, Entrepreneur – $300 and Small Business – $650, are designed to address the various and changing needs  of small businesses and organizations in Brooklyn,” Membership Director Darryl Hollon said.

The new “Marketing” level at $195 provides free and low-cost advertising and promotional opportunities for neighborhood retailers and small business owners. This package specifically meets the needs of business owners who can’t leave their shops but need effective advertising coupled with the cachet of belonging to the Brooklyn Chamber.  This level provides effective marketing opportunities via the Chamber’s online and offline communications vehicles to help small businesses owners get the word out about their businesses.

The ever-popular “Entrepreneur” level at $300 (formerly a “General” membership) is geared towards small business owners and entrepreneurs (particularly in the business-to-business category) who require the Chamber’s marketing programs as well as regular networking events to make the meaningful connections they need to grow their businesses.

The second new level called “Small Business” at $650 opens the door for  up to two additional employees at Member business organizations to participate in Chamber activities like the Chamber’s committees and Member-only events.  At this new level, three employees from one business can receive Chamber discounts, publications and mailings.  Additional promotional and networking benefits are also available at this level including enhanced Membership Directory listings.

The Brooklyn Chamber is excited about the addition of these two new membership packages, and believes these three standard levels will have greater relevance and, therefore, reach in the Brooklyn business community —  both new businesses that will consider the Chamber for the first time and existing businesses that can gradually increase their participation in the Chamber to mirror their businesses’ growth.

Rick Russo, Director of the NYC Business Solutions Center at the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce observes, “Brooklyn Chamber membership opens doors that enable the small business community to leverage resources vital to growth — resources that complement the technical assistance offered at the NYC Business Solutions Center."

Information about these three standard membership levels as well as the Chamber’s “Major Member” levels starting at $1,000 and up is available under the “Membership” section of the Chamber’s web site at www.ibrooklyn.com. Visitors to the Chamber’s web site will notice that the online membership and renewal applications have been updated to reflect the new membership levels, and access to links for additional information about Chamber membership benefits — and all in only two easy steps.

If you have questions about the new membership levels, are interested in upgrading your membership or would like to take part in the Chamber’s year-long Membership Drive through its Membership Committee, contact Membership Director Darryl Hollon at 718 875-1000 ext. 131, or e-mail him at dhollon@brooklynchamber.com.
