Brooklyn's Progress June 2004
The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business Seminar Committee (SBSC) presents the forum Chamber Members have been asking for: "Legal Issues for Small Businesses,” July 22, 8 to 10 a.m. at Palmira’s Restaurant in Brooklyn Heights, 41 Clark St.
Are you struggling with legal issues that make it difficult for you to operate your business or cut into your bottom line? Are you taking the necessary precautions to protect yourself and your business?
Join a round-table discussion with a team of legal experts who will address your questions. Experts will sit with you in small groups and discuss strategies for confronting the most common legal challenges facing small businesses and non-profits. Topics to be addressed may include:
What type of business entity should I choose to be? How can that choice reduce my tax liabilities and protect my personal assets?
Do I always need a lawyer to resolve "legal issues?" What are the alternatives?
As my number of employees grows, what additional concerns do I need to address?
What general liability issues should I be aware of?
If I need an attorney, what kind should I hire and how do I find them?
This is the second of a series of round-table discussions developed and hosted by the Small Business Seminar Committee (SBSC). Susan Doban, Susan Doban Architect is chair of the committee, Dan Vaccaro is chair of the sub-committee that organizes the round-tables. Continental breakfast will be served. Reservations are required. Please visit ibrooklyn.com to register online, or R.S.V.P. to Nancy Tibana at ntibana@brooklynchamber.com, or at 718 875-1000 ext. 119.
