Brooklyn's Progress June/July 2005
Photographer Karen Schuld has been busy making connections through her membership with the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce.
Since joining the Chamber in March of last year, Ms. Schuld has worked with a number of fellow Chamber Members including Randall Toby and Claudia St. Laurent of 4 Ladies Eyes Only, for whom she created unique imagery for their marketing and advertising campaigns. She helped Lucy Lopez and Shannon Snead of the YWCA of Brooklyn by creating a series of images that have been incorporated into their print materials and Web site.
Ms. Schuld also collaborated with graphic designer Peter Levinson, LevinsonBlock, on the redesign of the Brooklyn Chamber’s marketing materials and stationery. Specifically, she photographed a series of images for the Chamber’s new event fliers that capture the borough's dramatic skyline, bridges, architecture, infrastructure and its cultural institutions and landmarks. Ms. Schuld’s photography can also be seen on many of the pages across the Chamber’s Web site, ibrooklyn.com.
“My goal in working with the Chamber on updating their Web site images was to showcase Brooklyn as a diverse community, rich in education and culture, as well as a growing and vibrant commercial center,” explained Ms. Schuld.
Karen Schuld has spent the past two decades creating imagery for print media, television and the Web. She has produced advertisements for major corporations including Procter & Gable, Revlon, L'Oreal, Kraft Foods and Colgate-Palmolive. This experience has allowed her to help give smaller businesses a strong creative direction through her developed sense of style and design. Her goal is to create images that function as strong selling tools for those businesses.
