Brooklyn's Progress August 2002
The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce announces that its web-based initiative to promote Brooklyn’s manufacturing industry is nearing the final stages of development. BrooklynMade, which aims to draw attention to Brooklyn’s diverse manufacturers and their products provides mini-websites featuring an online catalog complete with company information and logo, specific product pictures and details, as well as other important logistical information such as shipping and packaging. The site is broken into three industry groups to highlight each industry’s unique features. Brooklyn’s Kitchen, concentrates on Brooklyn’s robust food manufacturing industry while Brooklyn Style and Brooklyn Originals cater to the needs of clothing and accessories designers as well as gift products makers. William Fleet of TBA Clothing, an early participant in BrooklynMade, agrees that the initiative will provide much needed help in marketing his products. “It is a fabulous idea, and I am impressed by the execution and level of expertise at the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce,” said Mr. Fleet after reviewing his company’s new online presence. The Chamber’s already popular website iBrooklyn.com will host BrooklynMade. iBrooklyn.com, which won the 2001 American Chamber of Commerce Executives award for excellence in communication, hosts over 5,500 visitor sessions weekly from visitors around the globe, all potential customers of BrooklynMade products. BrooklynMade is available to Chamber Members for FREE.
