Brooklyn Chamber Staff Welcomes Its Newest Members back to Brooklyn's Progress Online

Brooklyn's Progress
August 2003

By Wilson Alexander Aguilar

The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce held its second New Member Orientation (NMO) of this year on June 26, 2003, at the Business Library at Cadman Plaza.

This quarterly event is the best one-stop experience for getting an overview of the Brooklyn Chamber and for learning how to maximize a membership.  Not only did new Brooklyn Chamber Members have an opportunity to meet other business owners, they made new contacts and networked with veteran Members, while enjoying coffee and pastries graciously donated by Café Scaramouche.  Director of Membership Cheryl Mann presented a slide show on the Brooklyn Chamber and its services.  This was accompanied by a short address from Kenneth Adams, Brooklyn Chamber President, and brief introductions from other Brooklyn Chamber staff members.

Immediately following the overview, iBrooklyn Director, Henok Assefa, led an EZWeb training session where Members received hands-on assistance in creating their free web page at the Brooklyn Chamber’s website, http://www.ibrooklyn.com/.  During the training session, Membership Marketing Coordinator Khadija Batuta, reviewed some of the many features of iBrooklyn such as the Brooklyn Chamber’s events, the opportunity to purchase advertisements in this year’s Membership Directory and Buying Guide, as well as the directories for Brooklyn restaurateurs (Brooklyn Eats) and for Brooklyn manufacturers (BrooklynMade.net).  Members were encouraged to bookmark the website and to log-on often to keep abreast of the latest Brooklyn Chamber news and activities.

The next NMO will be held in October.  Keep your eyes peeled for more information and be ready to save the date!
