Wouldn’t it be perfect to attend more networking events, increase revenues and have more time for fun? Well, at Fun-Guru it’s possible. Grace Dantas, the founder of Fun-Guru has put together what many have hailed as a truly “fun and insightful idea”. The plan is simple. Fun-Guru is a service dedicated to planning your social life. Dantas books activities ranging from comedy clubs and Brazilian dinners to more inspired events like rock climbing, white water rafting and Laser tag. “We engage you, challenge you, dare you to allow yourself to return to life back to a point where you had the balance which overall helped you to fulfill your professional and personal lives” says Dantas, the Fun-Guru Chief.
The difference between her service and some similar businesses, is that membership isn't necessary. Although Fun-Guru offers memberships ranging from a monthly fee of $24 to $99, Dantas said that curiosity seekers are welcome to drop by for a single event, which runs anywhere from absolutely free (watching the sunset in Battery Park) to $110 (a helicopter ride over Manhattan). Often, she says, an activity like kayaking will lure long-time members and first-timer non-members alike.
"If you don't want to be a member, then don't be. Let's just have fun," she said, dropping the word "fun" as if it were her personal plaything. "Why not going out, having a little fun and try to release from everyday stress?"
And for the power players that work while they play, Fun-Guru’s robust listing of events encourages the promotion of the networking of individuals from all different walks of life. So now not only are they having fun, they’re making deals while either laughing at a comedy club or getting a 7-10 split at the bowling alley. In short as one of the company mottos state: “If you play as hard as you work – we’ll keep you busy”. Brooklyn as well as the rest of New York had better strap themselves in because Fun-Guru is taking off and it’s going to be unlike any ride you’ve ever taken.
“You’ve worked hard to get where you are, now let Fun-Guru do the rest. Do something you’ve not done before or what you haven’t done in a long time. Tell us what you want and we’ll help create a fully customizable package for you or for your entire company.” said Dantas.
You'd think that with all the time she spends coordinating activities, booking events and calling clients, Grace Dantas would, quite frankly, be tired of such a steady intake of excitement right? Don’t be so quick to rule her out. Dantas is also quite active on the Membership Committee of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce and holds the Chair of Marketing for BEBWA – Brooklyn Executive Business Women’s Association, a local chapter of NAFE – National Association of Female Executives, in Brooklyn.
