Brooklyn's Progress August 2004
Only one year after opening their first unit, Fratelli Ravioli Franchise Group recently announced that they will open their second Frats Ices® on Friday, July 9. The new shop, located at 169 7th Ave. in Brooklyn, will feature the signature menu item that gave birth to the concept. Frats Ices specializes in serving delicious fried ravioli with a variety of dipping sauces, which they refer to as "Frats®."
"We've been making fried ravioli in our ravioli stores for years," said Larry Vivola, co-founder of Frats Ices, referring to the chain of Fratelli Ravioli® stores his family has operated in Brooklyn since 1978. "Our customers used to call to find out when we'd be frying up the next batch. The demand for them was so strong, we just knew we were on to something big," adds Mr. Vivola. Frats Ices serves a variety of Frats, from cheese (traditional) to beef, chicken, and even seafood-filled Frats. They also produce dessert Frats in two distinctive flavors – cheesecake and chocolate, both served with a choice of sweet dipping sauces. Guests can end their experience by trying one of Frats Ices many varieties of Italian ices, ice cream mix-ins, and traditional spumoni, each created from the Vivola family's time-proven recipes.
The new Brooklyn location will be the first Frats Ices to open since the company announced their plans to offer the concept as a franchise opportunity. "As a franchise business opportunity, there's really nothing else out there like Frats Ices," said Christian Vivola, Larry's brother and co-founder of Frats Ices. "We can put someone into a business of there own for $80,000 to $100,000, and offer them what we feel is one of the most simple, low-labor operations available." The company produces all the menu items at the same Brooklyn facility used to produce the ravioli and sauces sold in their Fratelli Ravioli stores.
Fratelli Ravioli Franchise Group operates and franchises both Frats Ices and Fratelli Ravioli stores.
