Chamber Members Relive Childhood Memories at Astroland Park! back to Brooklyn's Progress Online

Brooklyn's Progress
August 2004

Story by Maggie Beaute-Lucien

On July 14, about 50 Brooklyn Chamber Members ventured off to Coney Island’s Astroland Amusement Park to recapture childhood memories at the Chamber’s monthly Business After Hours (BAH).  Despite predictions of thunderstorms and gusty winds that, thankfully, waited until after the event, determined Chamber Members were rewarded with sunny skies for a ride on the famous Cyclone.

As part of the evening’s festivities, Carol Albert, Co-owner of Astroland Amusement Park donated a life-size stuffed Snoopy as the evening’s door prize.  Jay Rachlen, Sales Manager, The New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge, was the winner.

About Our Host

Astroland Amusement Park is rated one of the 10 best amusement parks by the Travel Channel and the Wall Street Journal.  Coney Island's Astroland Amusement Park is the premier family entertainment center, anchoring the eastern end of the historic Coney Island Amusement Zone.  The Amusement Park carries the unparalleled, world-famous Coney Island legacy of fantasy, thrills and excitement into the 21st Century!  Founded in 1962 by Dewey and Jerome Albert, Coney Island's Astroland follows in the footsteps of the great precedent-setting parks of the Island's past, such as Sea Lion Park, Steeplechase Park, the grand Luna Park and the impeccable Dreamland.

Many thanks to the evening’s hosts Lois Colin, Ms. Albert and the Astroland Amusement Park staff for making the Brooklyn Chamber's July Business After Hours event unforgettable.

Don’t forget to join the Brooklyn Chamber at the next Business After Hours in Park Slope at the Brooklyn Society for Ethical Culture, Thurs., Sept. 23 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce’s monthly networking events are great ways to  meet other Members, make new business contacts and have a great time along the way.
