Brooklyn's Progress August/September 2007

A Red Hook economic waterfront canvas, framed by the July 25 Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours event, made a networking splash at a preview of the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition's "4th Summer: A Really Big Art Show" at 499 Van Brunt Street.
"BWAC represents the brightest and best of the creative community in Brooklyn," said Mark Kessler, interim president and chief operating officer of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce. The host at the huge warehouse space was BWAC, a 500-plus member artists-run nonprofit coalition for Brooklyn's emerging art community.
BWAC is one of the largest art organizations in the city, if not the nation, said leaders John Strohbeen and Herb Alwais, board members who welcomed the Chamber for its exhibit featuring artists, photographers, sculptures and performing artists running weekends from July 28 to August 19 as part of the Brooklyn Crafts Festival.
For the event, tasty hors d'oeuvres were served by Adams Fresh Inc. and Wine Cellar Sorbets. The evening's raffle was won by Chamber Member Steven Gross, account executive with Newsday's Marketeer. He won box seats from the Brooklyn Cyclones.
