Brooklyn's Progress September 2001
Shaunta Hanson, who worked for the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce for 18 months as the retention specialist for Good Help, the Chamber’s job referral program, died in August at Bellvue Medical Center. “As one of the initial staff members of Good Help, Shaunta helped to set the standard of professionalism and customer service for our program,” said Mike Rosenthal, Director of Good Help. He added, “Clients could always expect a greeting with a smile and for this and many other things she will always be remembered.” Born in Brooklyn, Ms. Hanson came to the chamber after working at the Bedford YMCA. She was recently employed at True North Communications where family members said she enjoyed her work in advertisement so much that she envisioned herself retiring from the company. Ms. Hanson, 30, was graduated from Washington Irving High School in 1989. She attended the Wood Business School for two years and received a business certificate. Family members said Ms. Hanson will always be remembered as one who reached out to others to make each life that she touched better. Ms. Hanson is survived by two children, a son, DaVante and a daughter, Tattiana; her father, Theodore Benjamin; a sister, Jacqueline McNeil of Charlotte, North Carolina; three brothers, Darnell McNeil of Atlanta, Georgia, Leonard Benjamin and Shaun Hanson, both of Brooklyn; her fiancé, Jose Diaz of Brooklyn and a host of aunts, uncles, other family and friends. A funeral was held August 16 at Matthew Barrett R. S. Saunders Funeral Home in Brooklyn. Burial was at Cypress Hills Cemetery in Brooklyn. |
