Brooklyn's Progress September 2002
Through a partnership with the Consortium for Worker Education (CWE), a non-profit agency that provides recruitment, education, training and outplacement services to job seekers and employers, the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce a new wage subsidy program designed to assist businesses negatively affected by 9/11 and the recent economic downturn. Eligible businesses can obtain subsidies of up to 50% of wages (per eligible employee), to either hire new workers or retain existing workers slated for layoffs. If you are a worker who has been laid off due to 9/11 and the recent economic downturn, the Chamber, through its new RESPOND program, can also help find job training and job placement assistance by connecting displaced workers with the local employers that are eligible to receive incentives to hire individuals displaced after 9/11. For more information on either of these new programs, please contact Randolph Peers at (718) 875-1000 x 122. |
