Brooklyn's Progress September 2003
Small vericose veins and capillaries are not cosmetically appealing and may also lead to aches and swelling. The most effective treatment is a combination of laser, minimally invasive surgery and sclerotherapy (diverting blood flow), procedures performed by new Brooklyn Chamber Member, Dr. Merab Boter, a general surgeon.
Large vericose veins may lead to big problems -- aches, swelling, blood clots, ulcers. Dr. Boter suggests that the most effective treatment for this problem is minimally invasive surgery. The operation leaves no scars and patients report no pain. Most patients go home within two hours after the surgery and return to work within one to three days after the surgery.
Dr. Boter performed this prodecure hundreds of times as outpatient surgery. It can be done at the hospital or in his office under local or general anesthesia.
Dr. Boter says that all insurance companies will cover the surgery if it is deemed medically necessary. Merab Boter, M.D., Ph.D. is a Diplomat of the American Board of Surgery. His office is located at 6415 Bay Parkway in Brooklyn, 718-236-0777. |
