Brooklyn's Progress September 2003
By Carolyn Fostel
Brooklyn businesses large and small helped children start school with much needed school supplies by participating in Astoria Federal Savings’ 5th annual Kids Tools for School campaign. Over 400 cartons of supplies have been collected throughout Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau and Suffolk and donated to schools, organizations, and children living in shelters. The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce has supported this program for the past four years.
Two area businesses, Kleinfeld, the renowned bridal shop in Bay Ridge, and CitiStorage, Inc., a record and retention storage company in Greenpoint, made it a company-wide effort.
“This is such an easy thing for everyone to do, and it makes such a difference in the lives of some children. Our employees really enjoy getting involved,” Ann Nicosia, director of operations for Kleinfeld, said. |
