Brooklyn Business Community Mourns the Loss of Trailblazer Gilbert Rivera

The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce regrets to inform its Members and the Brooklyn business community about the passing of Gilbert Rivera, founder of Park Avenue Building and Roofing Supplies, LLC and AM&G Waterproofing, LLC.

Statement from Mark Kessler, Interim President & COO,
Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce

“Gil Rivera’s story is a lesson in what it means to believe in your dreams. As an immigrant of Puerto Rican heritage, his perseverance will make him a shining example. As a man these qualities, as well as his intelligence, passion and humanity, made him a great leader and fabulous businessman.

He was a very active Member of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce and a great example to anyone considering starting their own business – particularly minorities in whom he took a special interest. Gil’s presence will always be felt in Bedford-Stuyvesant where he began, and in Ocean Hill-Brownsville where he continued creating opportunities for local residents and anyone willing to work hard. We will miss Gil dearly, but he has left a legacy and impact that will ensure he is not forgotten.”
