Get A Taste of Brooklyn...At Kosherfest back to Recent News home
November 09, 2007

Have you noticed Angel’s Bakery’s muffins and cake slices sold at your neighborhood grocery store?  Have you seen 4C’s iced teas at Costco, or King of the Sea’s tuna at your local supermarket?  If you haven’t – come taste what you’re missing!

Brooklyn Goes Global (BGG), an initiative of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, is bringing a taste of Brooklyn to Kosherfest.  This year’s Brooklyn food manufacturers are serving up smoked salmon, iced teas, desserts, refreshing peppermints and more at the 2007 Kosherfest food show taking place at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center from November 11 - 12. Visit BGG at booth 1353!

“The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce is proud to present some of the borough’s finest food manufacturers at this year’s Kosherfest,” said Brooklyn Chamber President & CEO Carl Hum. “These companies represent Brooklyn’s diversity and are well on the way to solidifying the Brooklyn brand in the global marketplace.”

Participating exhibitors under the BGG banner at Kosherfest 2007 are:

  • 4C Foods Corp. (http://www.4c.com/): For more than 70 years, this legendary Brooklyn manufacturer has produced a variety of products, including iced tea mixes, bread crumbs, grated cheeses, and soup mixes.  Newest products include 2Go™ Energy Rush drink mixes in citrus and berry flavors.
  • Acme Smoked Fish Corp. (http://www.acmesmokedfish.com/): A fourth-generation family owned and operated smokehouse producing one of the most popular smoked fish brands in North America, Acme offers a wide range of smoked fish products, including Nova, Lox and Herring and specialties such as Cold Smoked Tuna and Alaskan Black Cod.
  • Angel’s Bakeries, Inc. (http://www.angelsbakery.com/): With more than 15 years in business, these fourth-generation bakers produce muffins, cookies and cake slices, including New Yorkers’ favorite black-and-white cookies and muffin tops, inspired by a Seinfeld episode.
  • Grampa’s Mints (212-956-0881): Purveyors of Grampa’s “Wake-Up” Mints, created to not only freshen the mouth but also aid in digestion.
  • King of the Sea (http://www.kingoftheseatuna.com/): Featured in The New York Times and TIME magazine, King of the Sea is the purveyor of low-mercury, dolphin-safe, chemical and filler-free tuna since 1986.

“Due to demand by our local food manufacturers, we are thrilled to be exhibiting in our sixth consecutive year at Kosherfest,” said Steve Kaplansky, director of Brooklyn Goes Global.  “It certainly helps that Kosherfest is one of the largest kosher food shows and focuses strictly on certified kosher products.”

Kosherfest, which features more than 500 exhibitors from 20 countries, will take place in conjunction with Expo Comida Latina, All Asia Food, International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show, and the New Organic Pavilion.
