Brooklyn HealthWorks and HIP/GHI put “healthy” into summer fun with free health screenings for Brooklyn HealthWorks participants at the Brooklyn Cyclones/ Lowell Spinners game at KeySpan Park. More than 100 free tickets to the August 22 game were given to Brooklyn workers who signed up for blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes screenings.
“Small businesses depend on affordable health insurance, that’s what makes Brooklyn HealthWorks so important,” said Carl Hum, president & CEO, Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce. “And, it goes without saying healthy workers and families are happier people.”
“Brooklyn HealthWorks is committed to promoting the health and wellness of small business employees who have coverage through our plans,” said Dean Mohs, executive director, Brooklyn HealthWorks. “Healthy employees are good for business in Brooklyn and they help keep premiums down.”
“We are proud to be a partner in providing access to health coverage to the local business community and in making it easy for HealthWorks members to monitor their health through these free preventive screenings,” said Frank Branchini, president and COO of EmblemHealth, the parent company of GHI and HIP.
The effort is the latest in a campaign by Brooklyn HealthWorks, the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce’s low-cost small business health insurance program, which is underwritten by GHI to promote health and wellness among Brooklyn workers. The message to participants – taking care of your health – has its rewards. Each HealthWorks participant who signed up for the free screenings conducted before the game was given up to four tickets to share with family and/or friends. After the game some attendees strolled the Coney Island boardwalk and enjoyed the weekly fireworks show. |
